  • The Sr. Network/Alcatel Engineer is responsible for planning and engineering subscriber broadband networks for delivery of triple and quad play video services in clients Network.
  • This position focuses on the design, evaluation, testing, and implementation of service provider routing and switching technologies and equipment for the delivery of IP services to consumers.
  • The position reports to the Director.
  • The person in this position will work with Engineering and Operations teams to evaluate, configure, plan, and deploy network systems in support of Video services.
  • This person must have strong troubleshooting skills and will serve as a Tier 3 escalation point for operational issues.
  • Five or more years of broadband subscriber network experience (eight or more years of experience desired) performing hands-on network design, configuration, and troubleshooting of broadband subscriber or carrier networks, with at least two years in a broadband subscriber network technology or planning organization (i.e. network architecture, capacity management, deployment planning and FOAs, or evaluating and testing new equipment, technologies, or services for subscriber networks) and at least two years of experience working with video delivery services in triple/quad play networks.
  • ISP (Telco/Cable/Satellite Broadband) experience is mandatory.

Skills Required:

  • Strong Experience authoring network specifications and diagrams (MS Word/Visio or equivalent)
  • Strong experience with Alcatel 7x50 Service Routers, switches, and supporting systems (7750, 7450-ESS, 5620 SAM)
  • Strong experience with SR-OS CLI configuration of subscriber management features for Broadband Network Gateways (BNG) / Broadband Remote Access Servers (BRAS) .         or
  • Strong experience with SR-OS CLI configuration of Video Head-End (SHE/SHO/VHO) multicast routing and switching configurations.
  • Strong experience designing and configuring QoS/CoS for multi-play service provider offerings
  • Strong experience with service provider routing and switching protocols and technologies (BGP, OSPF, MPLS/VPLS, VRF/VPN, PIM, STP).
  • Experience working with any multicast or next-generation Video delivery technologies (IPTV, ABR HLS, Smooth Streaming, etc.).
  • Experience with PON fiber or DSL copper access technologies.
  • Experience with Web technologies and protocols (HTTP, SSL, HTML, etc.).
  • Experience with methods and tools for stress testing of networks and related equipment.
  • Experience with packet/protocol fault analysis for common IP and Ethernet protocols using network traces or sniffer captures.
